Extra limites. Pars tertia
We are pleased to announce the publication of the third volume of the Extra limites series, representing a further stage in the long-running cycle of seminars devoted to the archaeology of Central Europe in the pre-Roman, Roman, and Migration Periods.
Held continuously for over a decade, and organised alternately in Poznań and Wrocław, these meetings are open to all and bring together a broad academic community, including students, doctoral candidates, researchers at different career stages, and representatives of archaeological institutions from Poland and abroad. The present volume comprises papers delivered between 2018 and 2022, offering both regional case studies and broader synthetic approaches.
The contributions address a wide range of topics, including settlement and funerary archaeology, numismatics, and Roman perceptions of the Barbaricum. A notable feature of the volume is the growing importance of specialised analyses—such as anthropological, ceramic, metallurgical, palynological, and archaeozoological studies—which provide increasingly nuanced insights into cultural and social transformations in barbarian Europe.
The third volume constitutes a natural continuation of the series, while also serving as an expression of appreciation to all participants and collaborators who have contributed to its development.
