Open Day at the Institute of Archaeology, University of Wrocław

Dear Colleagues,
we are pleased to invite you to the Open Day at the Institute of Archaeology, University of Wrocław, which will take place on 11 April 2025, from 11.00 am to 1.00 pm, at 48 Szewska Street, Wrocław.

This is an excellent opportunity to learn more about our degree programmes, meet students and staff, and see what working in archaeology looks like in practice.

Programme highlights include:

  • welcome address (Marcin Bohr, PhD, Deputy Director of the Institute of Archaeology for Education),
  • lecture: Is archaeology a science? (Prof. Justyna Baron),
  • lecture: Roman table silver (Prof. Mateusz Żmudziński),
  • presentation of the Student Archaeology Society,

workshops and demonstrations, including:

  • archaeological artefacts “up close” (weapons, ornaments, vessels),
  • how objects were made in the past,
  • animal and human bones in archaeology — what they can tell us,
  • methods of artefact analysis and documentation.

Participants can also take part in competitions and receive small gifts.

We warmly invite all those interested — prospective students as well as anyone passionate about archaeology.
