The Institute of Archaeology at the University of Wrocław is a unit with a long history and continues the traditions of the Department of Polish Archaeology, established already in 1945.

Over all these years, we have been changing, evolving, gathering experience, and currently, we are one of the most recognizable and modern institutions of this type in Poland, and our achievements are well-known far beyond the country’s borders.

Our scientific research extends beyond the boundaries of our country and Europe. For many years, we have maintained a significant presence in the mountains of Peru, the deserts of Sudan and Mongolia, and most recently, our research initiatives have expanded to include the vast savannas of the Serengeti in Tanzania.
